About Alexander
Alexander Scull Castillo, born in 1989 in Havana, Cuba, is a freelance percussionist, band leader, and composer. He can be booked as a solo musician, playing congas, drums, bongos, timbales, batá, or steel pans, as well as in a band format with Tempo Havanna. Afro-Cuban religion, tradition, and history are part of his biography. He carries the rhythms, music, and dances of his cultural heritage in his blood. This is complemented by his extensive background of knowledge and experience in Latin American music, which he incorporates into his percussion style and his own songs. This gives the music he performs a unique flair that seamlessly combines the essence of his Cuban roots with modern Western elements. Thanks to his pedagogical training, Alexander also passes on his knowledge with Caribbean joie de vivre and a love for Latin American music to those who are interested in the history, culture, and complex rhythms of the instruments of his homeland.
